Editorial cartoonist. Edward Daniel Kuekes was born February 2, 1901 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was a student at Baldwin-Wallace College, the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He drew for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, 1922-1966 and became chief editorial cartoonist in 1949; he was also cartoonist for the Metro Newspapers, produced cartoon features for United Features Syndicate and was author/illustrator for a few separately published books.
